Into Your hands
I commit again With all I am, for You, Lord
You hold my world
In the palm of Your hand
And I am Yours forever
Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
I'll walk with You
Wherever You go
Through tears and joy
I'll trust in You
And I will live
In all of Your ways
And Your promises, forever
Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You're the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am
With all I am
All I am
I will worship
I will worship You

Gods Word for Today: Matthew 9:36
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Devotional/Study: Part 3
One of the wonderful things about Jesus is, because he is gentle, he treats us with a tender heart and like God has compassion on us. When the Bible talks about compassion it means to have mercy and feel sympathy. More literally, it means to be moved to one’s bowels.
We could also say when we feel compassion, we get alongside that person and suffer with them and feel their pain, but not just feel it, but to do something to help them. Merriam-webster online dictionary defines compassion as “sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it.”
We read in Psalm 103:13 "As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.” We are reminded in Lamentations 3:22-23 "22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.” 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Brothers and sisters God is compassionate and sympathetic and feels for us when we are going through hard times. This should encourage and give us peace. His compassion is revealed in his mercy, kindness, patience, grace, forgiveness, and love.
Jesus is our example of compassion. he loved the poor and broken, the ones who were neglected by society. During his ministry, Jesus demonstrated his love and compassion by healing the sick and the poor.
What I see reflected who God is through how he loved and cared for people. His kindness and love demonstrated How God feels for his people. We see something of the heart of Jesus when he ministered to those who needed healing and wholeness. Whenever he ministered, he was motivated by compassion for the broken.
We read in Matthew 9:36 "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” When he saw the crowd, he was moved with compassion towards them. Jesus doesn’t just see a crowd he sees much more than that. He sees sheep without a shepherd. no one to guide them or to lead them in the right way; he saw individuals who were harassed and helpless.
Something I discovered is that whenever Jesus was moved with compassion, he did something. We read in Matthew 15:32 "32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.” I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”
Jesus’ compassion was also seen when he encountered a leper, in those times a leper was seen to be unclean and people kept away from them, however when Jesus saw this man with leprosy his compassion moved him to touch and heal him.
We read in Mark 1:40-42 "40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” 41 Jesus was indignant.” He reached out his hand and touched the man.” “I am willing,” he said.” “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.”
On another occasion Jesus had an encounter with two blind men who wanted to see. We read in Matthew 20:34 "Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes.” Immediately they received their sight and followed him.”
Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw people suffering with all kinds of diseases and sickness, we read in Matthew 14:14 "When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed the sick.” Jesus also showed compassion on individuals. We read in Mark 1:40-42 "40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed.” If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean, he said.” 41 Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him.” I am willing, he said.” Be healed! 42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.”
There were times when Jesus was firm, but mostly we see Jesus moved with compassion for the poor and broken. Jesus loves broken people; his heart goes out to those who need him and long for him. Although Jesus is in heaven, his heart is still for us and full of tenderness, and if we allow him, he will embrace us, as if he was on earth. Today I want to tell you Jesus’ heart goes out to you. He wants to embrace you.
There is no one like our lord, there is no one who can who touches our hearts like Jesus, for its in his embrace. we find safety, healing love, and peace, it’s in his embrace we have assurance one that day, we will be with him. It was his compassion for a broken and fractured world that brought him into the world, it was his compassion that enabled him to endure suffering, pain, and death on the cross. The heart of Jesus is a heart is so full love, we can’t comprehend it.
Brothers and sisters’ compassion is not just about having a feeling for someone, the compassion that comes from our heart moves from feelings to action. As I reflect on Jesus’ ministry, I see that he was always looking to help the broken and strengthening the weak and those who were struggling in their faith.
Once he read a passage of scripture in the synagogue at Nazareth and quoted from Isaiah 61. We read in Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
In this passage Jesus was revealing his amazing ministry to people who needed physical and spiritual renewal. Although Jesus wanted to bring healing and wholeness, his aim was to help people out of religiosity into a deep relationship with God. It’s the same today, Jesus wants to help us in all kinds of ways and ignite our faith and draw us into a deeper relationship with God that will enable us to know and experience his love and to have a deeper understanding of who he is.
The amazing thing about Jesus is he is able to sympathize with sinful people like us, because in his humanity, He hungered, experienced weariness, he felt pain. And knows what it feels like to be rejected, misunderstood, he knows what’s it’s like to be lonely and abandoned and let down. He knows what’s it like to lose a loved one. Jesus knows what physical pain feels like and knows about our tears, for he himself wept. When Jesus saw His friends weeping at the grave of Lazarus, He felt compassion and wept alongside them.
We read in John 11:33-35 "When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.” 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.” “Come and see, Lord,” they replied.” 35 Jesus wept.”
This is amazing, because here we see God in flesh, God in Christ weep for His people. We must never forget God sees and feels our suffering. We read in Exodus 3:7 "The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.” I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” Tomorrow, we will look at Gods call on our lives to be compassionate towards others
